Virtual Worlds: the next big thing or the biggest Web 2.0 bubble? @ AMDOCS Israel

Massive Multi-Users Online Games (MMOG) and Virtual Worlds (Multiverse) have become the building blocks of today’s children’s worlds. There are many indications that Multiverses such as Second Life and Massive Multiplayer Online Games change the way people communicate and learn by provide meaningful interactions.
The presentation will focus on the question:
Why numerous businesses and organizations are investing in virtual worlds big time? Is it the next big thing or the biggest Web 2.0 bubble?
Several case studies of major companies virtual presence (IBM, Sun, Cisco…)will be demonstrated, to be followed by an introduction of a conceptual framework for studying interactions in virtual worlds currently under development and an open discussion about the future of virtual worlds.

Digital Games Research Association (DIGRA) is a non-profit, international association, a network for academics and practitioners whose work focuses on digital games, virtual worlds and associated activities.
